UPDATE OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS TO ECUADOR

Monday, November 29th of 2021

(Quito, Pichincha). -The Ministry of Tourism informs that, by resolution of November 29th , 2021 of Ecuadorian Authorities, new guidelines to enter Ecuador have been approved and will come into effect from December 1st, 2021 at 00H00.

All passengers entering the country, over 16 years of age, must present in a mandatory manner:

1. A complete vaccination card, with at least 14 days of validity after completing the scheme; and

2. Negative result of an RT-PCR test performed up to 72 hours prior to departure to Ecuador.

Children between 2 and 15 years, 11 months and 29 days of age must present:

1. Negative result of RT-PCR test performed up to 72 hours prior to departure to Ecuador.

Any person who enters Continental Ecuador by international air must present the digital “Traveler's Health Declaration” when boarding the plane.

If the platform is not available, the physical form must be submitted at point of entry in Ecuador to the Ministry of Health officials.

Travelers from Africa:

As of December 1st, 2021 at 00H00, entry is prohibited to people whose points of origin or transit are: South Africa, Botswana, Egypt, Mozambique, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Eswatini (Swaziland) and Namibia.

Occupancy:

The Ecuadorian Authorities urged local authorities to, as far as possible, avoid the organization and authorization of mass public events.

1. In case of authorization, they must require and control the entry of people, presenting the Vaccination Certificate with a complete scheme with a minimum of 14 days from the second dose or negative, RT-PCR test certificate of maximum 72 hours and restrict the capacity to a maximum of 50%.

2. The executions of these events will be carried out exclusively in open or closed places with ventilation, complying with the minimum social distancing of 1.5 meters.

3. These same measures are recommended for the case of open to the public places such as shopping centers, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, cinemas and similar.

UPDATE: April 08, 2021

As of April 8th, any traveler arriving to Ecuador directly from Brazil, or via transit or layover in the country of Brazil, will need to complete a 10 day quarantine upon arrival.  The traveler must do the quarantine regardless of the negative COVID RT-PCR test that needs to be provided.
All other Ecuador Covid entry requirements for International Arrivals remain the same as the update below from March 22, 2021.

Effective March 22, 2021. Entry to Ecuador will be accepted with a vaccination card upon arrival.  It must show that the traveler has received a completed series of the COVID vaccine.  *The Galapagos Islands and Yasuni Amazon region does not follow the same travel and entry requirement, please see more below.

THE NATIONAL COE ELIMINATES MANDATORY PREVENTIVE ISOLATION FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS WHO ENTER THE COUNTRY WITH A NEGATIVE PCR RESULT

Karl Egloff y Nico Miranda abren Directa Ecuador a la cara sur del Aconcagua en 24:50 horas

Los ecuatorianos Karl Egloff y Nico Miranda llevaban tiempo detrás de realizar un buen intento de récord de velocidad en la ascensión del Aconcagua (6.962 m). Ya en enero de 2018 realizaron un par de intentonas frustradas por las condiciones y, al retirarse, anunciaron que regresarían este año otra vez.

El día soñado por fin llegó este lunes 18 de febrero, cuando se reunieron todos los factores relacionados con las condiciones de la ruta, una meteorología benigna y dos atletas motivados y dispuestos. Hacia las 5:00 horas de la mañana, Egloff y Miranda se metían en la gigantesca cara sur del Aconcagua, según informaba la web argentina Cumbres. Fueron ganando metro tras metro a través de los casi tres kilómetros de desnivel que presenta la pared, con rapidez y con mucho esfuerzo durante toda la jornada.

El propio Karl Egloff anunciaba la conclusión de su desafío en sus redes sociales:

Pared Sur Aconcagua 6.962 m, 24 horas 50 minutos con el mejor amigo y hermano Nicolás Miranda. Un sueño hecho realidad y a su vez agradecidos con la vida de salir bien, ¡con muchísimo frío pero sanos! Las condiciones de la nieve estuvieron complicadas pero siempre lo dejamos todo sin olvidar nuestra seguridad y que lo más importante sería volver a casa.

Además de las condiciones de la nieve y del intenso frío, Karl Egloff y Nico Miranda tuvieron también algún momento de desorientación que les hizo perder algo de tiempo. En el otro plato de la balanza, los dos ecuatorianos terminaron completando la ascensión por un tramo sin registros de ascensiones previas. Después de haber seguido la ruta abierta por Reinhold Messner en 1974, se desviaron en la zona final para terminar firmando una nueva variante que ya han bautizado como Directa Ecuador.

Bruno Sourzac mantiene su récord

Es indudable el éxito cosechado por Karl Egloff y Nico Miranda, a pesar de que no han logrado su máximo objetivo, que consistía en batir el récord de velocidad en la ascensión al Aconcagua. El francés Bruno Sour a son también la cordada más rápida en alcanzar la cumbre del Aconcagua, pues el récord de velocidad de Sourzac fue realizado en solitario. Cotopaxi volcano climbing activities reopens for the mountain Lovers and the general public

In August 2015 the Cotopaxi National Park decided to close the Cotopaxi volcano for any touristic activities due to the increasing volcanic activity, gas explosions and ash spread for several weeks.

Last week the ministery of tourism in cooperation with the ministry of environment announced that “the volcanic activity has decreased considerably in the Cotopaxi, so restricted areas to the public are now safe and open to the public” (Enrique Ponce de Leon, Ecuador´s minister of tourism) in a press conference.

Ecuador is a country that is blessed with a diversity of exciting landscapes which are extremely popular for any Adventure. Se levanta restricción para ascender hasta los 5.300 metros del volcán Cotopaxi.

Redacción Regional Centro Hasta el lunes 11 de julio se mantenía le restricción que impedía a los turistas ascender más allá del refugio José Rivas, localizado a 4.800 metros del volcán Cotopaxi. El martes 12 de julio, Patricia Larrea, nueva coordinadora zonal de la Secretaría Nacional de Gestión de Riesgos (SGR), anunció que se podrá acceder únicamente hasta los 5.300 metros. El acceso a la cumbre continúa cerrado, ya que, según Larrea, el Instituto Geofísico de la Escuela Politécnica Nacional (IG-EPN) dio a conocer que la emanación de gases nocivos para los humanos aún es alta en el coloso. La apertura se realizará cuando el IG lo determine con base a sus estudios. Mientras tanto, las operadoras y agencias de turismo ven con buenos ojos esta iniciativa. Sebastián Toapanta, representante de Cotopaxi Travel,contó que varios turistas extranjeros ya hicieron reservaciones para la travesía. “Esta noticia sin duda reactivará el turismo”, aseguró Toapanta. Since the August 14. 2015 the excess to the summit of the Cotopaxi Volcano has been closed for climbers. Reason for that was a new strong eruption of the mountain that day, and the damages that the main route to the top received on that event. Now after allmost 2 years the chance of the summit beeing opened again, is opening up. Technicians from the Department of Risk Management, Ministries of Tourism and Environment, as well as high mountain experts analyzed new and safe routes, which have the respective signage for a risk-free climb, to the top of Cotopaxi. There is a high chance that the summit will be open again at the end of june, if everything works out.
